PSG vs Barcelona Champions League preview: kick-off time, form, injuries and head-to-head history.

PSG vs Barcelona is the standout Champions League fixture on Tuesday, with Paris Saint-Germain hosting Barcelona at the Parc des Princes at 21:00 SAST (19:00 UTC) on 20 October 2026. Both clubs have won their first two league-stage games, so this preview looks at the form, injuries and history behind the match.
PSG and Barcelona sit first and second in the league-stage table, both with six points from two matches and a goal difference of plus seven. As a result, this fixture pits two perfect records against each other.
PSG beat Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at home, then won 4-2 at Manchester City on 14 October. Barcelona beat Feyenoord 5-1, then won 4-1 at Galatasaray on 13 October.
In addition, PSG’s win in England is covered in our Manchester City vs PSG preview, while a different league-stage tie is covered in our Arsenal vs Lille preview.
PSG won 3-1 at Strasbourg on 17 October, following the 4-2 win at Manchester City. Before that, they beat Le Mans 3-1 at home, Marseille 2-1 away and Brest 1-0 away.
However, their domestic results have not all been smooth. They lost 2-1 at home to Monaco on 4 September and drew 2-2 at Lille on 28 August. Therefore, PSG are strong in Europe but have dropped points in Ligue 1.
In the Champions League, they have scored ten goals and conceded three in two matches. That is a strong attacking return from two matches.
Barcelona won 5-2 at Real Betis on 17 October, which came four days after the 4-1 win at Galatasaray. Before that, they beat Getafe 3-0 at home and Sevilla 3-1 away.
Earlier in September, they won 7-2 against Racing Santander, 4-2 at Levante and 5-0 at Valencia. In other words, Barcelona have scored heavily in nearly every game.
On the other hand, they have conceded in several of those matches. Still, their two Champions League matches show nine goals scored and two conceded, so the balance has been good at this level.
PSG have Mendes (muscle injury), Longoni (injury) and Mayulu (muscle injury) listed as absent, according to the injury list we checked.
Barcelona have more absentees. Bardghji (knee), Christensen (muscle), Garcia (muscle) and Kounde (ankle) are all listed. As a result, the Catalans may need to adjust their back line.
However, injury lists can change in the final 24 hours, so wait for the confirmed line-ups, which are published by the clubs and UEFA about an hour before kick-off.
PSG and Barcelona have met many times in the Champions League. The most recent meeting was on 1 October 2025, when PSG won 2-1 in Barcelona in the league stage.
Before that, in the 2024 quarter-finals, PSG lost 3-2 at home and then won 4-1 in Barcelona, going through 6-4 on aggregate. In 2021, PSG won 4-1 in Barcelona and drew 1-1 at home in the round of 16.
Of course, the best-known tie remains the 2017 round of 16. PSG won 4-0 in Paris, but Barcelona won 6-1 in the return leg. Therefore, this fixture has produced some of the most dramatic nights in the competition.
The first factor is how both attacks cope with the absences in defence. PSG have injury absentees, while Barcelona are without several defenders, so both sides may create chances.
The second factor is tempo. Both teams have scored freely, so the match could be open from the first minute. However, a patient team in possession can also control it, and PSG have the home crowd on their side.
Finally, the match is an early test of league-stage ambitions. A win would keep one side’s perfect record intact, while a draw would leave both close at the top.
